ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Jose V. Morin, a lifelong resident of Karnes City, Texas, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2006, in St. Luke’s Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 71 years, 3 months, and 19 days.

He was born in Helena on March 25, 1935 and was married on Aug. 23, 1961 in Pawnee.

Jose worked as a produce manager for the Karnes Mercantile Co., retiring after 25 years of service. He was a member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Dolores and Jesus Morin Sr.; his sisters, Carmen Garcia, Denovena Galindo, and Julia Morin; and two brothers, Celestino Morin and Jesus Morin Jr.

Surviving Jose are his wife of nearly 45 years, Maria Virginia Morin of Karnes City; his sons, Joe Morin Jr. of Karnes City and Richard Gutierrez and wife Velma of Round Rock; a daughter, Ida Yelverton and husband Dennis of Jackson, Tenn.; his brothers, George Morin of Humboldt, Tenn., Demetrio Morin of Karnes City, and Raymond Morin Jr. of San Antonio; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A rosary was recited on Monday, July 17, at 7 p.m. in the Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City.

On Tuesday at 8 a.m., a funeral service was held in St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City with the Rev. Adrian Adamik officiating.

Interment took place in the Helena Latin Cemetery in Helena.
