1983-2007

San Marcos, Texas, resident Nicholas Wagener, born Feb. 2, 1983, in Seguin, died Saturday, June 16, 2007, in Karnes County. He was 24.

The son of Hilmer Wagener Jr. and Darlene Janysek Wagener of Gillett, Nicholas was raised in Gillett and was a 2001 graduate of Karnes City High School.

He moved to San Marcos, where he studied at Texas State University and worked. He was a quality control supervisor at Heldenfels Cement Co. in San Marcos.

Nicholas lived life to the fullest. An all-around entertainer, he loved fishing and hunting, and was a down-home country boy and cowboy for a day.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Conrad Janysek Sr. and Rosie Janysek, and Hilmer Wagener Sr. and Eula Mae Wagener.

Nicholas leaves behind his parents; a sister, Pamela Polasek and husband Jason of Hobson; nieces Codey and Jayden Polasek, both of Hobson; a girlfriend, Roslyn Reavis of San Marcos; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A rosary was recited in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Panna Maria on Tuesday, June 19, at 7 p.m.

Father Adrian Adamik will celebrate a funeral Mass on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the church, with burial following in the Wagener Ranch Cemetery in Gillett.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bryce Wagener, Travis Nickel, Jerry Reavis, Jason Mabe, Jason Polasek, Ryan Bledsoe, Philip Sims, and Dwayne Curry.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Panna Maria Diner Fund, P.O. Box 15, Panna Maria, TX 78144.
