1960-2007

Marcos Javier Ortiz went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 2, 2007, at the age of 46. He was born Oct. 6, 1960.

He was employed with the civil service for 20 years, working at Kelly Air Force Base and Tinker Air Force Base.

Marcos was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jose Angel Ortiz, Hermenejildo Gallegos, and Virginia Garza.

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Elvie; his parents, Marcos and San Juana Ortiz; grandmother Inocencia Ortiz; his sisters, Maria Alicia Ortiz, Virginia Valdez and husband Leonard, Maggie Leija and husband Miguel, and Emily Ortiz-Wheeler and husband Roger; a brother, Jose Angel Ortiz and wife Rosalinda; his parents-in-law, Casimira Villarreal, Raul Garcia, Arturo Villarreal, and Carmen Villarreal; a sister-in-law, Mary Helen Beltran and husband Bernave; godsons Zachary Deptawa, Marcos Angel Valdez, and Bernave Mike Beltran; his loving cat, Choppy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, July 6, from 5-9 p.m. in the Mission Park Funeral Chapels South in San Antonio.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 9 a.m. on Saturday in St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church in San Antonio.

Interment followed in the Mission Burial Park South.
