(Re: “Pro-Christianity counter-arguments are flawed,” Letters, June 18) -- Mr. Uribe, I hope you can find it within yourself to one day forgive whomever it was that created the hatred you have for everything religious. For your sake, I hope you seek professional help, and do it soon.
I’m not talking about the salvation of your soul. I could care less about that. I’m speaking in regard to the mental scars you have left over from whatever trauma you suffered during your childhood at the hands of someone associated with Christianity. Perhaps it was an over-zealous relative, a ruler-wielding nun, or a pedophile priest, but who or whatever it was, it is something you need to address.
This same obsessive anger issue is present in those who feel an unfounded sense of rage toward people of a different race or ethnicity. Hitler comes to mind, as well as those who belong to the Ku Klux Klan.
You try to cover your disorder behind a thin veil of superior intelligence, but your lack of respect toward others who have an opposing viewpoint merely underscores that presence of rage. If you’ve chosen not to believe in anything of a religious nature, then that is your decision. But to be so ardently venomous in your ridicule of others who do choose to believe in the Bible and Christ is an issue that should be dealt with by a professional in the mental health field.
Sooner or later, you will learn that there is an endless supply of information available to support any viewpoint on any subject and what you decide is fact is going to be the information that supports your own point of view. It is nothing more or less than that.
So please, remove the headphones, and get some help before the start of next semester.
Good luck.
JOHN SEWARD
