NIXON -- The new Super S Foods, located at 102 North Nixon St., is set to open Aug. 27 at 7 a.m. The actual grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 7:30 a.m., with local officials, business and civic leaders, local citizens, and Super S Foods store personnel on hand for the celebration. Everyone in the surrounding area is invited to attend.
On Saturday, there will be free gallon jugs of Sol Tropical fruit punch and honey buns for the first 100 customers through the doors; lots of buy-one-get-one free offers; free helium balloons for the kids and fajitas cooking in the parking lot, where you can buy a fajita or hot dog and Coke for $1 with all the proceeds going to the local Nixon/Smiley High School Athletic Booster Club.
Customers will also have the opportunity to register for grand opening prizes, including a LG 42-inch Flat Panel Plasma HDTV, a Weber Genesis Gas Grill and a Maytag Washer and Dryer. No purchase is necessary.
“This is a very exciting occasion for the Super S Foods family of stores and all the wonderful people of the Nixon community and surrounding area,” said David McBurnett, president and owner of Super S Foods. “We recognize that this is a growing community and feel the obligation to bring a brand new state-of-the-art conventional supermarket to this community. We thank the Nixon citizens for their patience and look forward to serving them with all their grocery shopping needs. Now, people in this community can shop for groceries in their own hometown and save time and gas.”
The store will have a large selection of farm fresh produce featuring peak of the season fruits and vegetables, a massive dairy department including a wide selection of juices, yogurts, milk, and culture products. The frozen foods department features more than double the variety than before and includes items for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The store also offers fresh Holmes poultry, which is processed in Nixon.
The store will be managed by Rudy Herrera, and will be open 7 days a week from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. The store also offers Super Customer Services including, Easy Check Cashing, Western Union Money Orders, and Money Transfers, pre-paid phone cards, Texas Lotto and lottery tickets, hunting and fishing licenses, energy payments and a convenient ATM will be in store.
Super S Foods is an independent Texas family owned supermarket business with 52 stores located in rural communities throughout Central and South Texas and is in its 35th year of business.
