AUSTIN -- Here is the fishing report as compiled for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (full report is available at www.tpwd.state.tx.us)

Freshwater
BRAUNIG Water stained; 82 degrees. Black bass are slow to fair on crankbaits and dark soft plastic worms in reeds and near the jetty and dam. Striped bass are fair on liver and shad near the pier and at Dead Tree Point, and on silver and gold spoons and marble spinnerbaits near the jetty and dam. Redfish are fair on perch, shad, tilapia, and silver spoons, and down rigging spoons near the jetty and dam. Channel catfish are excellent on liver, shrimp, cut bait, and cheesebait near the dam and the intake. Blue catfish are good on cut bait.

BUCHANAN Water clear; 82 degrees; 11.72' low. Black bass are fair on wacky rigged watermelon/purple Whacky Sticks, pumpkin Skip-N-Pop topwaters, and crankbaits along deeper ledges in creeks in 5-10 feet at first light. Striped bass are fair on Spoiler Shads (plastic swim baits) and Rat-L-Traps along the river channel near the dam in 25-40 feet at daylight, and drifting or free lining live bait in 30-40 feet. White bass are fair but small on Tiny Traps and 2" swim baits along the river channel and in deep creeks. Crappie are fair on pink/white or chartreuse Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows in clear water. Channel catfish are fair to good upriver. Yellow and blue catfish are good upriver.

CALAVERAS Water stained; 82 degrees. Black bass are fair on dark soft plastic worms, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits around reed beds, near the dam, and in Granny's Cove. Striped bass are slow to fair on spoons and jigs near the crappie wall and the dam in 15-20 feet, and on chicken livers and shad along the shoreline. Redfish are good on live bait and down rigging spoons with green grubs between the crappie wall and the dam in 15-20 feet, and on perch and tilapia near the dam and Spider Island. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are excellent on liver, shrimp, cheesebait, and shad near the railroad bridge and Turtle Rock. Yellow catfish are slow.

CANYON LAKE Water clear; 80 degrees; 8.94' low. Black bass are fair to good on drop shot rigs, watermelon red Whacky Sticks on jigheads, Texas rigged 6in. purple Scoundrel worms on shaky head jigs, and white spinnerbaits along ledges of main lake bluffs in 10-20 feet. Striped bass are fair jigging blade baits and trolling deep running Shad Raps over and around humps in the lower end of the lake at first light. White bass are slow. Smallmouth bass are fair on Smokin' Greenin. Devil's Tongues on drop shots, smoke JDC curl tail grubs on jigheads, and 3/16oz. pumpkin Curb's jigs with matching drop shot worms along ledges and over rock piles in 15-28 feet early. Crappie are fair on minnows and tube jigs upriver. Channel catfish are slow. Yellow and blue catfish are fair on trotlines baited with live bait.

CHOKE CANYON Water lightly stained; 85 degrees; 3.77' low. Black bass are good on large soft plastic worms and lizards in 12-20 feet. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow but some large crappie have been caught on minnows. Drum are good on live worms. Channel and blue catfish are excellent on punchbait in 3-10 feet. Yellow catfish are fair on live perch and goldfish.

COLETO CREEK Water clear; 89 degrees (97 degrees at discharge); 3.54' low. Black bass are fair on soft plastics and spinnerbaits in 3-8 feet. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are slow. Yellow catfish are slow.

COLORADO RIVER (Above Lake Buchanan) Water clear. Black bass are fair on minnows. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows. Catfish are fair on live perch.

FALCON Water stained; 80 degrees. Black bass are fair on spinnerbaits, Sweet Beavers and Brush Hogs in the upper end of the lake in 8-12 feet. Striped bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are excellent on cut bait and liver. Yellow catfish are slow. Everyone in the boat must have a Mexico fishing license (if fishing the Mexico side) whether fishing or not.

GRANGER Water clear; 74 degrees; 2.44' low. Black bass are good on black Power worms upriver. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on chartreuse and yellow jigs in 4-12 feet. Blue catfish are fair on shad and cut bait. Yellow catfish are good on live bait.

LBJ Water stained; 82 degrees; 0.33' low. Black bass are good on JDC Skip-N-Pops, 1/8oz. Curb's buzzbaits, and wacky rigged green pumpkin Whacky Sticks tight to seawalls and laydowns in 4-8 feet at daylight and just before dark. Striped bass are good on Creme Spoiler Shads at night. White bass are good on Li'l Fishies at night. Crappie to 16 inches are good on Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows over brush piles in 12-15 feet. Channel catfish are very good on minnows and dipbait. Yellow and blue catfish are fair on trotlines.

TRAVIS Water clear; 82 degrees; 22.85' low. Black bass are very good on chrome chuggers, watermelon red soft plastic worms, and smoke grubs in 5-25 feet. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows and blue and white tube jigs in 15-22 feet. Channel and blue catfish to 10 pounds are excellent on nightcrawlers and fresh cut bait in 25-38 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.

WALTER E. LONG Water murky; 85 degrees. Black bass are slow. Hybrid striper are good on live bait. White bass are good on crankbaits and spinnerbaits. Crappie are good on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on stinkbait and shrimp. Yellow catfish are slow.

Saltwater
BAFFIN BAY Trout and redfish are good around the Badlands on live bait and soft plastics. Trout are good around the grass near the Land Cut. Trout are fair to good around rocks on soft plastics, live bait and topwaters.

BOLIVAR Flounder and redfish are fair to good around Rollover Pass on jigs tipped with shrimp on the incoming tide. Few anglers are fishing this side of the bay due to the storm cleanup.

CORPUS CHRISTI Trout and redfish are fair to good on live shrimp and Gulps on the grass beds on the incoming tide. Redfish are good on the flats on the incoming tide.

FREEPORT Bull redfish and jack crevalle are fair to good in the surf on crabs and mullet. Trout, redfish and sand trout are good at San Luis Pass on live shrimp and plastics. Trout, sand trout, gafftop and sharks are good on the beach.

EAST GALVESTON BAY Few anglers are venturing in the bay. Watch for floating debris and underwater obstructions.

WEST GALVESTON BAY Few boat ramps are open on this side of the island.

EAST MATAGORDA Trout and redfish are fair for waders working the south shoreline on small topwaters and Gulps. Trout are good on the reefs on the north shoreline on topwaters.

MATAGORDA Trout and redfish are fair on the south shoreline grass beds. Redfish and black drum are fair to good in Crab Lake and Oyster Lake on live shrimp.

PORT ARANSAS Trout, redfish, whiting and sand trout are fair to good at the jetty on shrimp. Redfish are fair in the Lydia Ann Channel on cracked crabs and finger mullet. Bull reds are good in the surf and at the jetty.

PORT ISABEL Trout are fair to good while drifting sand and grass on soft plastics and DOA Shrimp under popping corks. Snook are fair in South Bay and the Ship Channel on live shrimp and glow DOA Shrimp.

PORT MANSFIELD Redfish are good in East Cut on crabs and finger mullet. Redfish are good on the flats for sight-casters tossing to large schools.

PORT O’CONNOR Bull redfish are good at the jetty on crabs and mullet. Trout and redfish are fair to good in the back lakes on soft plastics and Corkies.

ROCKPORT Trout are fair to good on the reefs in Copano Bay on topwaters and soft plastics. Redfish are fair around the Estes Flats and East Flats on mullet and shrimp.

NORTH SABINE Trout are fair in the river on live shad and shrimp. Redfish are good on Stanley Ribbits in the marsh. Flounder are fair on the Louisiana shoreline on jigs tipped with shrimp.

SOUTH SABINE Flounder are fair around Blue Buck Point on jigs tipped with shrimp. Trout are fair while drifting slicks and birds on soft plastics.

SOUTH PADRE Trout are fair to good for waders working the grass beds on small topwaters. Redfish are good on the flats on live shrimp, DOA Shrimp and Gulps under a popping cork.

TEXAS CITY Black drum, redfish and gafftop are fair to good around the rocks on shrimp. Bull redfish are beginning to show in the channel. The dike is closed due to damage.

TRINITY BAY Redfish are fair to good at the spillway on crabs, shrimp and soft plastics. A few birds are beginning to work. Watch for debris and under water obstructions.
