1948-2008

Josie O. Mata was born to the parentage of Manuel Olivo and Apolonia Rodriguez on July 25, 1948, in Floresville, Texas.

Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at 7:30 a.m., the clouds of glory rolled back, the trumpet of Heaven sounded, and the Lord sent forth the angels to escort her soul into the golden gates of Heaven to be joined with other loved ones.

She had been employed at Simeus Foods for the last 13 years. Those who knew her well knew that she was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

Josie leaves to cherish her loving memory two daughters, Leticia Sue Arriaga and Sonya Ann Pineda; her sisters, Teresa Serrano and husband Manuel, Sally Reyna and Robert Cervantes, Odilia Alvizo and Margarito Cabrera, Ofelia Perez, and Maxine Nino and husband Regino; her brothers, Andres Olivo and wife Juana and Raymond Rodriguez; three grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held from 1-6:30 p.m., with a rosary from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, in the Morris-Bates Mortuary in Fort Worth.

A funeral Mass was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the All Saints Catholic Church in Fort Worth.

Interment followed in Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth. Pallbearers were Luis Veliz, Angel Reyna Jr., Manuel Serrano Jr., Joseph Pineda, Raymond Rodriguez, and Javier Serna. Honorary pallbearers were Adrian Corpus and Isaiah Corpus.
