POTH -- A 17-year-old Falls City High School senior is dead after a head-on collision 1 mile north of here Feb. 13 on U.S. 181.

Joseph Lang, 17, of Falls City was pronounced dead at the scene.

Texas Department of Public Safety Spokesman Travis Hall said the accident occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. after a 1993 Ford Bronco allegedly traveling southbound in the northbound lanes by 26-year-old Omero Lugo of Beeville collided with Lang’s 2000 Chevrolet passenger car that was traveling north in the northbound lane.

Two female passengers in Lang’s vehicle, Chasity Stone of San Antonio and Dillyn Lewis of Falls City, both 18, also received injuries. Lewis was flown via AirLife helicopter to University Hospital in San Antonio, where a spokesman said Feb. 16 she was listed in critical condition.

Stone, who police said was the only one in Lang’s vehicle wearing a seat belt, was transported via ambulance to Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville. A hospital spokesman said Monday Stone had been treated and released.

Lugo was also flown via AirLife helicopter to University Hospital, where a hospital spokesman said Monday he was in stable condition.

Hall said because of the nature of the crash, a mandatory blood sample was taken from Lugo, but Hall was unsure when those results would become available.

Kyle: I also do that. But instead of praying for the dead/mourning, why not try and address the problem? Or should we just stick our head in the sand and pray (BTW I am a Christian)..
