I agree with Tony W from Waco.......children are not taught about weapons and their proper intended uses, care & Respect. I was exposed to all kinds of guns - as a kid growing up in Rural Central Texas - the guns were all loaded ...all the time. You were taught that the guns were NOT toys & you were taught proper use of them. We never had any "gun accidents". Had lots of friends over to spend the night and no one ever got into trouble because of the guns. I would wager to say there are more problems with kids today & the trouble they get themselves into becasue of the computers & cell phones and the lack of supervision of those devices than guns. And I also totally agree with Gina - what good is a locked up - dis-assembled or unloaded gun. The intruder brings his in fully loaded & ready to use it.

Great article and yes, guns are good. People have the problem - it is called R-E-S-P-O-N-S-I-B-I-L-I-T-Y.

A word that no one really understands or remembers anymore. It is NOW the B-L-A-M-E game. Oh well.

I'm not sure if liberals are control freaks but in my opinion they definitely do not think issues allo the way through. I am a licensed concealed handgun holder. I live in Texas and travel through out the U.S. I carry my hand gun when and where the gun laws reciprocate with Texas. If President Obama or any of the other anti-gun folks that want to tell me I can't carry to protect myself would like to line up and sign up to protect me then I'd be happy to leave my gun at home. I am a woman, I travel alone and unfortunately don't have a body guard. Atleast with my "six shooter" strapped to my hip, wait a minute, let me reposition my friend and it to my thigh, that way no one will panic. You won't be able to see it unless I want you to. (wink-wink)
I was born in American. I am an American, and I do still believe that there are constitutional rights for me.

Although the left wing of the political spectrum in our country is overtly controlling, their behavior stems from their own personal shortcomings. Not only do they lack moral fiber, they are basically weak and cowardly. That�s why they pick battles that don�t require guts � the guts that are the backbone of selfless heroes and uplifting legends. Instead, these weaklings resort to deception, defeat, and creating crises for mere grandstanding.

I live in one of the two states in the nation with the toughest gun laws. But that doesn�t give me any confidence whatsoever that those strict laws will protect law-abiding citizens from physical harm caused by gun violence. To truly make a difference, our left wing governor and legislature should use their bully pulpits to remove excessive violence in the media that encourages criminal tendencies; round up criminal illegal aliens (many in gangs) and ship them out of our country without delay; ascribe longer, tougher sentences on criminal possession; and appoint judges who will render these stiffer penalties.

As many expect crimes will increase with a declining economy, there are not enough law enforcement officers to deal with such escalation particularly with states and municipalities forced to curtail employee expenses. And, since we can�t expect cowards who live in ivory towers to personally protect us, it will become increasingly important for the gutsy to properly and legally defend our own. The Second Amendment�and all of our precious freedom documents�were designed for times like these.

Speaking at the opening session of the Second International Conference on Climate Change last week in New York, Czech President Vaclav Klaus �-- who is also President pro-tem of the European Union �-- warned that politicians have "succeeded in creating incentives which led to the rise of a very powerful [profit]-seeking group.

"These people are interested neither in temperature, CO2, competing scientific hypotheses and their testing, nor in freedom or markets. They are interested in their businesses and their profits �-- made with the help of politicians."�

They will profit, he said, from trading the licenses to emit carbon dioxide, and from constructing unproductive wind, solar and similar equipment able to generate electricity only with high levels of subsidies. They will also make money from doing research, writing and speaking about global warming.
He said they cannot "explain why the global temperature increased from 1918 to 1940, decreased from 1940 to 1976, increased from 1976 to 1998 and decreased from 1998 to the present, irrespective of the fact that people have been adding increasing amounts of CO2 to the atmosphere."�

He said global warming alarmists "want to change us and our behavior. Their ambition is to control and manipulate us.... It reminds me of the frustration people like me felt in the Communist era. Whatever you said, any convincing and well prepared arguments you used, any relevant data you assembled �-- no reaction. It all fell into emptiness. Nobody listened.

"They didn't even try to argue back. They considered you a naive, uninformed and confused person, an eccentric, a complainer, someone not able to accept their only truth. It is very similar now."�

Recalling his experience at the recent World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, he said he spent three hours at a closed session with about 60 people - heads of state and "experts"� like Al Gore, Tony Blair and Kofi Annan.

"It was a discouraging experience. You looked around in vain to find at least one person who would share your views. There was no one.

"All the participants of the meeting took man-made global warming for granted, were convinced of its dangerous consequences, ... It was difficult to say anything meaningful and constructive."�

In January, Klaus said: "I'm very sorry that some people like Al Gore are not ready to listen to the competing theories. I do listen to them." He ended his talk in New York with: "The environmentalists speak about "�saving the planet."� From what? And from whom? One thing I know for sure: We have to save it - and us �-- from them." The global warming hoax is due to this control freak syndrome also. Liberals want to control energy. There hasn't been any global warming since 2001, yet the control freaks keep pushing for ways to control energy ... and our prosperity.

Witness their backdoor chicanery in giving away the gun rights of hundreds of thousands of Vets. Witness their powerful resistance to the appointment of Eric Holder -- a letter to the committee members.

Were all the NRA members to drop their membership, and instead join the GOA, the JFPO, or the 2nd Amendment Foundation, or the Citizens Committee for the Right to keep and bear arms, organizations determined not to capitulate, I believe the fight against the tireless efforts of the gun-grabbers would have more success.

Truth is that out of all guns used in crimes here in America about 1/10th of one percent of them are legally owned.The rest are usually stolen.That goes for so called "assault weapons" also.
The original assuault weapons ban was passed under the guise of being a "law enforcement protection" bill but a later government study found that not a single officer in the U.S. had ever been shot with an assault weapon.Typical liberals,making up problems where there are none.
One thing that Libs hate are real facts and figures.If they think that a ban on guns will decrease crimes(including murder)then I have another stat for them.For the last several years I have kept up with he crime rates in countries like Britain,Ireland,Scotland and Australia since their total firearms bans.Interesting that since then the knife and the sword have moved quickly to replace the gun.In fact in many major British cities like London the number of knife murders per capita are starting to exceed the number of gun murders per capita in even the worst of American cities.
I reckon that's what you get in a country where 90 year old ladies get locked up for telling Asian kids busting her windows out that they should go back where they came from.That's what happens when the local police print warnings in the local papers not to use barbed wire or to use locks on their sheds because crooks might get hurt trying to break in.This is what happens in a country where the cops care so little that they are now going to a "by appointment only" schedule of crime investigation.I kid you not.Of course all of this is what you get when Liberals run things.

BUT, if another person were armed in the same vacinity, that person would atleast be able to attempt to stop the situation then and there instead of allowing it to spread across three towns..
