The Born Alive Infant Protection Act, originally proposed in 2001, was designed only to compel hospital staff to grant medical treatment to those infants born alive following an “unsuccessful” abortion. The law passed easily in the U.S. Senate, and various forms of the bill passed many other state legislatures. . . .
