Enthusiastic support is growing for the historic Tax Day Tea Party events to be held in 1800 cities across America on April 15. Wilson County will host one, as will San Antonio at the Alamo with an appearance by Glenn Beck! That should be very exciting!
Other Tea Parties will be held in Kerrville and Boerne and many other cities in Texas and across the nation. To find a Tea Party in a Texas city near you, go here: http://taxdayteaparty.com/teaparty/texas.
In a historic effort, perhaps unprecedented, millions of American will turn out this Wednesday to protest high taxes and suffocating regulations. The Boston Tea Party protested an oppressive king, and it was effective, but on April 15, 2009, citizens will not be dumping tea, but symbolically protesting, making speeches, and encouraging each other in their efforts to send a message to high-spending politicians.
While the typical major media probably won't give these gatherings much publicity, it will be up to individuals to spread the word in their local newspapers and online. Write letters to the editor, to local and national politicians, and keep up the heat.
The effectiveness of this movement will be what happens AFTER Wednesday. Voters must follow through by continuing to voice their opposition to what is happening to our freedom and our way of life. Most importantly, they must continue their protests by registering their vote in every upcoming election until we elect responsible, responsive people to public office. Unless and until we do that, nothing will change; Wednesday, April 15, will be just another tax day. |
