KC you have the right to your opinion. But before you like the Mainstream Media write us off as sore losers and extremist, maybe take a little time to understand what Wednesday was about. You are ignorant. The TEA party was about the Federal government not following the rules set forth by the Constitution. This was not a Republican thing or Democrat thing, but what would I know I only put the Wilson County Tea Party together. You can say what you want, that is your right, and we will continue to make sure that the government start following the Constitution and does not try to take away those rights.

I know the lack of media attention surprised no one but I am simply amazed that a couple of years ago illegals that had no rights as US citizens, marched down our streets (that taxpayers paid for) and received weeks of national media attention. I attended the Alamo Tea Party (when Glen Beck spoke) and then headed down to one of my favorite places...Floresville and enjoyed the tea party there. On my way there, I saw 2 large Homeland Security vans come into Floresville. Does anybody know anything about that? I think conservatives and liberals alike should be watching very closely on how this is received by the Government.

Interesting comments KS. Who do you think the mainstream press is? Why would the elite press report anything that would make the administration they put their full unhidden support behind. The mainstream media has a vested interest in the image of this administration. The act of a civil and peaceful demonstration from an actual grassroots effort with this kind of monumental attention despite the efforts to ignore and dismiss this historic bipartisan event not seen for over 200 years is like trying to ignore the elephant in the room.

Besides, why would the media cover anything about the TEA Parties the day after when the place was left spotless. I attended San Antonio's TEA Party in front of the Alamo along with 20,000 people (which was the official count by the SAPD) and before people departed everyone was asked to pick up any trash at their feet...and it happened! Anyone see the grounds the day after inauguration day at the White House?

The truth is, what happens next is the question to ask. Everyone can either go home and let the momentum die or they can stay active and get involved and write legislators and representatives from local to national and let them know that the people do not appreciate our tax dollars going to bail out private business.

It is now plain to see that this movement was so effective, it got the attention of the media...it got the attention of big government...it got the attention of this administration, and they are terrified to the point of their thought police the (Dept of Homeland Security) circulating an "intelligence and analysis assesment" warning about people who believe in God, who stand fast with the U.S. Constitution and that those veterans comming back home could pose as a potential threat to this country as an unstable and violent group. Reasonable people know this is not the case. And the same reasonable people know this can only gain momentum. There is already talks about another TEA Party on the 4th of July. It is a long road back to the America our founding father established, just stick to it and watch out for the diversions as they are sure to come.

KS, You left out an interesting historical fact about the Boston tea party. The British government interfered with the market so much that by the end of 1772, one of Britain's "most important commercial institutions" was in "financial crisis". The more they helped the British East India Company, essentially giving it a monopoly on the tea trade, the more it hurt the small business owners. The government had to give up on the revenue from the BEIC and looked to the colonists to make up for it, despite the colonists' disagreement with it. Sound familiar? It was about much more than that, though. It was about representation. This time around, it's about MISrepresentation.

And no, I didn't dress appropriately. I should have taken a sweater, but I don't care. I was glad to be there.

It was now early evening and a group of about 200 men, some disguised as Indians, assembled on a near-by hill.
Dressed as Indians!!! Did anyone who attend any of the 2009 Tea Parties dress appropriate? Maybe they had their democratic party pins on this time around....

Watching the liberal media is like watching the world through a soda straw. This event was just the beginning. The causes for it have been steeping for a long time and Bush, Obama, and Congress, Republicans AND Democrats have stirred it up. Patriots are exercising their God-given freedoms and being ridiculed for it. It's not just about taxes. It's about FREEDOM and the CONTSTITUTION. Abuse of Citizens like this:

in which people are punished for invoking their constitutional rights are becoming far too common.
All should be concerned because when one person's freedom is threatened, everyone's is in jeopardy.

The turnout was amazing all over the nation; I am especially proud, though, of all the 400 or so folks who skipped the SA Tea Party to attend the one in Wilson County. I saw families pulled together on blankets; strangers visiting as though they were old friends; flashlights given up to allow our last speakers to read their speeches. Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians and even folks not registered to vote were there all for a common goal. We had babies in blankets, and the elderly with their companions. We had folks in wheelchairs and young boys running around the courthouse lawn. We had folks of all income levels standing side by side, expressing the exact same sentiment.

As I sat with my kiddos, and my son began to get restless, I simply whispered to him, "One day, you will undertsand why I brought you here." A chill ran down my spine thinking about other patriots fighting opression who must have said the exact same thing to their little ones on evenings such as that night.

Just like with other incredible movements of the 20th and 21st century, we began with a drop. THat drop, as impressive as ir was, will begin a ripple, which will lead to one of the greatest waves imaginable. It can only be done, as anything can only be done, by keeping the message alive. Each of you can do so. Each of you has a voice.

It's refreshing to see that a conservative base is still present and strong in the US. Our traditional party, the republicans, by and large abandoned Conservative fiscal policies in the last administration and I'm afraid we're paying the price for that with our current administration.

If we've learned anything from the last 8 years and the first few months of Obama's administration; please let it be that our representation in both houses of Congress matters!

With all the Americans heading out last night for tea parties across the country maybe the cornerstone of momentum is set and we can seek out good candidates for the mid-term elections. We must elect peole for their ideals not thier party affiliation.

I'm very hopeful that people still care about this country and I hope the sentiment builds and brings about some change that helps this great country.

KS - Obviously you were not present, or you would realize that your comments are far from the mark of what occurred on the courthouse lawn.

What I saw was a group of fellow people who have a common goal of responsibility and accountability within the officials elected to represent the taxpayers - at ALL levels. There was nothing Republican or Democrat about it. Furthermore, it is precisely that sort of divisive attitude that keeps us from moving forward TOGETHER to accomplish those things we do have in common.

I'd say our first order of business is to have ANOTHER TEA PARTY. This will be a great opportunity to have even more people informed and talking and taking action; and an even better way to show that it is not partisan.

Maybe we can muster the Wilson County Taxpayers Association???

KS - That is exactly the point...where was the news coverage? Mainstream media want Americans to believe this Tea Party thing was nothing but fanatics griping about losing an election. It was far from that! It was the most awesome show of support to the AMERICAN CONSTITUTION which sadly is losing its place in our government. It was a showing of support from Americans who want better from officials in office. An effort to encourage voters to vote in people who will listen to the voters and who will not create a tax for everything in life, which is what is happening. It was an effort to get Americans to wake up that our rights are becoming fewer and fewer. The more governmental control, taxes, etc., the less freedom we have. Don't you like freedom? The freedom to win or fail? That freedom which God gave humanity?
