1950-2009

Opal Alberta Janek, 58, of Freeport, Texas, passed away Friday, April 17, 2009, in her home surrounded by family.

Alberta was born June 11, 1950, in Stockdale. She was the daughter of Herbert M. and Lillian Inez Dixon.

Alberta was a dedicated special education instructional aide with the Brazosport Independent School District. She was an extraordinary woman who spent countless hours volunteering her time and love to Scouting, youth sports, and her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sibling, Billy Roe.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Frank J. Janek of Freeport; three sons, Glenn J. Janek and wife Patricia of Conroe, Brian J. Janek and wife Karin of Round Rock, and Bobby J. Janek and wife Mary of Freeport; and four siblings, Maurine Jones and husband Donald, Maurice Dixon and wife Donna, Rutha Larison and husband Bill, and Clara Jane Rutland and husband Perry. Alberta was also the grandmother to Anthony, Olivia, Lillian, Christian, and Nathan.

Her family extends special thanks to her hospice nurses through IPH Hospice Care and to Dr. Raj DaLal.

Visitation was held Monday, April 20, from 5-8 p.m. in the Stroud Funeral Home in Clute. Visitation was also held Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Stockdale.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Stockdale, with Pastor Gary Irwin officiating.

Interment will follow in the Stockdale Cemetery in Stockdale.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to an organization of the donor’s choice.
