Evergreen election is important

The Evergreen Underground Water Conservation District election this May 9 is of concern to everyone in Wilson County, as voters will choose their representative for the next four years on the board, which oversees and protects Carrizo Aquifer groundwater for use by residents in the Evergreen’s four-county area.

To that end, voters in La Vernia, Stockdale, and Poth are to be reminded that although their cities are not holding elections this year, there still is an important election they should participate in: choosing their representative on the Evergreen board.

Incumbent Director Steve Snider, a retired Adkins resident who has been on the board since 1997, is facing opposition from Robert Leal of Floresville, a nursery manager.

Atascosa County’s current representative, Tommy Shearrer of Plesasanton, is being challenged by Larry W. Fox, also of Pleasanton.

Elections in Frio and Karnes counties have been canceled, as incumbent directors Fabian Jendrusch and Clifton L. Stacy did not draw opponents.

The polling location for the Evergreen election in Wilson County -- during both early voting and on election day -- is in the courthouse in Floresville. Until early voting ends Tuesday, May 5, voting hours will be from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. On election day, Saturday, May 9, the polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

No need to go negative with a bunch of innuendos and accusations.

JUST CONSIDER QUALIFICATIONS AND THEN MAKE YOUR DECISION!

Remember, voting is at the courthouse.
