All the people who think that laws to limit or control the ownership of guns need to be enacted, should join now, get that free membership and take over the NRA. Bring common sense to an organization that has gone way over the edge.

You are right I do not understand why you feel you need to own an arsenal. Out here in south Texas where the nearest police may be 20 minutes away, I understand why you may feel the need for a weapon in your home. However when you go out to party and know you will be drinking, the weapon should stay at home. Take Chicago or any big city. A city block is normally about 1/8 of a mile. That block can have have up to 30 homes counting both sides, even more is there are apartment buildings. Let us stay with individual homes. Any where from 2 to 8 persons per building. Lets say 5 per home that gives us 150 residents per block. Figure only 50 per block are adults and only half own a handgun. 25 guns per block, gives us 200 guns per linear mile. In a square mile that gives us 1600 guns. Throw in an block with four 10 story apartments buildings with 5 apts per level gives us 200 aprts on a block mostly adults. Only a half own guns another 100 gives 1700 weapons in one square mile.
A city like Chicago with a pop about 3 million could have close to million guns in the hands of residents. Can you understand why they want to have restrictions on guns. I fire a gun in south texas and I will most likly hit the dirt before I hit a person. In a large city you cann't spit without hitting someone. Fire a gun and you could hit any one of several thousand people around you.
Other than I can, I have yet to hear any real reason to own an arsenal.
The nation TJ envisioned does not exist. He pictured an America of farmers, not huge cities or a government with tanks, jets, and nuclear weapons. None of you have yet to answer the question, you just insult me. So Freeman when someone shoots you, who is the patriot and the tryant?..... And the quote is " Its better to be silent and thought dumb then to open your month and confirm it" So far all I have heard is confirmation. What works for the country side does not work for the city.

You could not even quote the amendment correctly, if that is what you were trying to do. I am sure glad you were not there with the founding fathers writing this stuff. Your version is crap.

Your understaning of what the second amendment really means is completely wrong. The amendment clearly states that the right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Besides that, there is overwhelming historical evidence that the founding fathers intended the individual to have the right to bear arms.

As for you stopping two crimes with your voice and rather small stance, all I can say is wonderful, but there are plenty of stories of people who stop crime everyday with a firearm, and they would not have been able to stop it with their voice. If you did not need guns for protection or to stop crime, police would not carry them, now would they. As for your strange argument about law abiding citizens getting drunk and shooting people, the minute they do so, they are no longer law abiding. Besides, they should be punished for the crime they commit. Don't punish me for what someone else does wrong.

As a side note, I find it rather interesting that in order to respond to Rudy's post, I must type the security words below which are "the idiocy".

I agree that was a useless law. A law that worked should have been passed. I do not have a problem with people who want to have hand guns. I do have a problem with bullets that will go thru vests that the police wear. Do not throw a vet in my face. I honor the persons service, that does not mean his every opinion is hallowed. I know vets who are very much in favor of reasonable gun control. That is what the national guard is all about. The argument I must protect myself from the criminal. Your drunk neighbor is suddenly a criminal when they use their legally aquired gun. When I lived in the big bad city I stopped two street crimes with my voice and my 5'7" stance. If I had a gun the police would have likly shoot me. I hear the San Antonio news of all the shooting. They never say the gun was illegal. All these law abiding citizens shooting each other. People get drunk at a party, the host shoots someone, and he was protecting his castle. Legal murder. But if the people in Chicago want to restrict handgun ownership to reduce crime in their city, people in Texas scream NO, you are interfering with my right to take my letal weapon anywhere I want to be able to shoot someone anytime I want.

Chris, even though Rudy did not mention "assault weapons", I find it appropriate to bring up the fact that the so called ban on assault weapons under the Clinton administration was mostly cosmetic in nature. If you took off the devices that were more "threatening" in appearance, the gun was legal. That shows you how much the people writing the law DON'T know about guns.

But why do you feel the need to make light of a situation that is so important to so many people? Do you believe you are smarter than all of us who own firearms, and that we are somehow all ignorant? Do you truly believe that there are not people in this country that want to take firearms away from law abiding citizens? There are. If nothing is done to protect those rights, like supporting the NRA, then they will be taken away.

People often mock what they do not understand. That seems all the more clear as you made your comments Rudy. Perhaps you should brush up on your "gun lingo" before you attempt to poke fun of it.

For starters, 30 rounds in 30 seconds is not exactly an impressive feat. I know shooters who can do that with a single action pistol - taking time to reload. A person doesnt need a fully automatic (which is illegal) or even semi automatic firearm to achieve that number.

Armor-piercing? Really? But, before i call you out on this one, are you referring to body armor? or steel plate armor? I just want to verify what you meant.... Body armor is typically designed to stop handgun ammo. Since there are many rifles that could penetrate it, you could be right in saying we want these guns. I know i certainly dont want my deer rifle taken from me because it has the ability to penetrate a vest.

But, I doubt very seriously that you were referring to that. In the case of shooting through tanks, i dont know anyone who has that ammo or would even want it. if you do, then i would agree with you and say you have cause to be nervous.

And when you said 50mm mounted to a jeep, I am guessing you probably meant to refer to a 50 caliber. A 50mm round is very large, serious, anti-tank round. I doubt you could mount one to a jeep, but you could probably pull one around with a jeep. I dont know of any of those floating around for sale or being used, but perhaps you do.

I do, however, have a friend who owns a 50 caliber rifle. He tells me it's a ton of fun to shoot and I am looking forward to it. He was a U.S. Army Ranger and sniper by the way. He is now nearly completely disabled after years of fighting FOR YOU all over this globe. He damaged his body by jumping out of countless airplanes and helicopters into battle zones for you. He was also shot on two seperate occasions while defending your right to tell him he doesnt need the rifle.

For those of you who do believe our gun rights should be protected, please do everything you can to protect them. If you dont think we will ever lose the right, talk to citizens of Australia and the U.K. They lost their rights to firearms, and it didnt make anyone safer.

Yes, oh my god, those gun control fanatics will take away our authomatic weapons, I will lose my right to fire 30 rounds of armour piercering bullets in 30 seconds. My want my 50 mm that so I can mount it on my jeep. Need to take out those hogs, they have nasty tusks you know. Hand grenade to take out groups of 5 or more of those 400 lb hogs. I want my TOYS and I want them now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And do not forget, the black helicopters are comming to get you.

We MUST STAND up for what is our right!!!!! too many precious lives have been lost so that we may have liberty, and it is a travesty to stand by and see that go to waste. Please America, wake up to what is coming, be aware, and be strong as a unit!!!!
