Wilson County taxpayers wishing to protest their 2009 property tax appraisals have until Monday, June 8, at 5 p.m. to do so.

After the deadline, Wilson County Appraisal District Assistant Chief Appraiser Brian Stahl said, “There’s very little we can do.”

As of June 4, Stahl said, 2,804 protests had already been filed. Several people who arrived to protest that day were greeted with a sign saying that sign-ins were closed, but that protests could still be dropped off.

Stahl said filing a protest guarantees the taxpayer’s case will be heard.

Protests can be filed in person or via e-mail at
cadstaff@felpsis.net. Stahl said all protests should include the property’s legal description, identification number, or physical street address, along with the property owner’s signature. They can be submitted on a form or even as a handwritten note.

For more information, call the Wilson County Appraisal District at 830-393-3065.

If you think 56% increase is bad, try mine. From the years 2004 through 2008, my front lot was valued at $9,900. For 2009, someone decided it was worth $24,060. My lot ... Read More Read More

Per Texas law, military members in a deployment status, e.g. Iraq, Afghanistan have the ability to protest up until the time that property taxes would go delinquent.

If you can make it, go to the Appraisal Boards meeting Monday, June 8th at 8:30am. Ask the appraisers how they can use comps from last spring before the house bubble burst. ... Read More Read More
