VICTORIA -- Jacob Vincent Arevalos, 17, of Floresville is being held in the Victoria County Jail after being captured here July 2, said Lt. Tom Copeland of the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office.

Arevalos is being held on $50,000 bond, charged with aggravated robbery for his alleged role in a June 17 incident at the One Stop convenience store and Exxon Gas Station on U.S. 181 in Floresville. More than $1,300 cash was taken at gunpoint in what police said was the first aggravated robbery Floresville had seen in two decades.

Victoria County officials have charged Arevalos with failure to identify himself as a fugitive with intent to give false information, for which he is being held on $2,000 bond. He is also being held with no bond on warrant from the Texas Youth Commission, which charged him with absconding while on parole.

Detective Jesse Evins of the Floresville Police Department said July 3 that officers received information that Arevalos had fled to Victoria County. He was apprehended in Victoria at approximately 3 p.m. July 2, through the combined efforts of the state’s Office of the Inspector General and the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office.

“Due to the constant effort of Floresville Police Department investigators George Ortiz and Chad Clark, Floresville Police Department patrol officers, Texas Office of Inspector General Investigator Raul Flores, and the combined units of the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office, the fugitive was apprehended without incident,” Evins said. “Through hard work and agency cooperation, this case is one step closer to being closed.”

If found guilty of aggravated robbery, Arevalos could face five to 99 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
