1936-2009

Wilfred John Theis, 73, of Leming, Texas, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2009, in Leming. He was born Feb. 4, 1936, to William V. and Cecelia Fey Theis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Norbert and William G. Theis.

Wilfred is survived by his wife of 52 years, Clarice Jupe Theis; sons Robert Theis of Pleasanton and Darrell Theis of San Antonio; daughters Denise Gumm of Houston and Jamie Semlinger and husband Kyle of Poth; grandchildren Britni Martinez, Cody Mahula, Kurt and Jared Semlinger, and Cheyanne, Hailey, and Alexis Theis; and great-grandchildren Julia, Jordann, and Joy Martinez. He is also survived by his sisters, Eleanor Mainz and Adeline Galm; sisters-in-law Sister Mary Elizabeth Jupe, CDP, Tillie Jupe, and Mickie Jupe; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation was held Friday, July 10, at 4 p.m. in St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Loire, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in the church.

Interment followed at 2 p.m. in St. Jerome’s Cemetery in Martinez.

Serving as pallbearers were Kurt Semlinger, Jared Semlinger, Cody Mahula, Jerome Galm, Jerry Mainz, and James Mainz.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Luke-Loire Parish’s Altar Society, 3930 F.M. 536, Pleasanton, TX 78064 or to the Sisters of Divine Providence, 515 S.W. 24th St., San Antonio, TX 78207-4619.
