Friends establish fund for shooting victim

A fund has been established to help defray medical costs for America Hernandez, who was shot Aug. 28 in Sutherland Springs.
Those interested in contributing to the “America Hernandez Medical Fund” can do so at any Bank of America branch.
According to a spokesman at University Hospital in San Antonio, Hernandez, 34, has been upgraded to stable condition. She and her father, 54-year-old Abel B. Gonzalez Jr., were each shot in the head Aug. 28. Gonzalez has since been treated and released from Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
Hernandez’s estranged husband, 29-year-old Brian Q. Hernandez, is charged in the incident. He is currently being held in the Wilson County Jail on a total of $300,000 bond. |
