This is a classic divide and conquer tactic that the U.S. Government has been using since they came up with the two party system to control it's population. Keep the left fighting with the right and we can control both of them. Obama works for the same people that Bush worked for. Do a little research and you will find that their polices are excatly the same. Americans, we need to come together and ride ourselves of both the republicans and democrates that keep us divided and go after the real criminals behind our government, the elitest bankers.

My main concern (not truly knowing what agenda is behind the President's speech) is that our President and the federal government believes that parents can not sufficiently teach their children on their own. It appears that we as a country are leaning drastically towards socialism. That begins with the youth of a country. If we would look back at history and learn from others' mistakes, we would see that this type of thinking leads to a loss of freedom.....freedom of not just "conservative ideals" but ALL freedom. We as a country are lulled into believing that we cannot change things-that everything will be fine. If we just ignore what we know to be wrong, how are we any better than the very nation who tried to exterminate the Jewish people? Looking back, it seems so ridiculous. But how did it happen? The people of Germany, the rest of Europe and America turned their heads the other way until it was almost too late. It was too late for many people, who died needlessly. When will we, the American people,"see"? What are we willing to give up in order to be looked at as being tolerant? Can we stand up for what we believe in without being hateful and throwing out facts that may or may not be true? We need to disagree respectfully but firmly, using facts and not insults....and PRAY!

When a pres. tells the people that hired him that they are going to get something if they want it or not, well, that is when people start distrusting. Once there they would all then be INDOCTRINATED into the Taliban. Once indroctinated - I cant' go on - it's just too horrible!

What was stated in the original letter...

"Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. These would then be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals."

Now it states,

"Write letters to themselves about how they can achieve their short–term and long–term education goals. These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals."

In both cases everything was kept in-house. Sounds like a teaching/learning opportunity either way.

BTW - I make no oppologies to my scenario as stated above, I fully believe that if it were written exactly above and then posted on some of those extremem right blogs/web-sites and Rush repeated it on his radio station the masses on the extreme right would believe it, every single word! Same applies to the extreme left as well!

Read, people, read, inform yourself...

His hope was to convert them all to the Democratic Party and Islam at the same time. A double whammy... but the tea partiers recited a section of the constitution from the readers digest that prevented him from speaking across state lines on television without a license to carry.

The people that say the conservatives are over reacting should pause for a moment and wonder why Obama has change his original speech. Represenatives at the Whitehouse have stated that the speech was changed so there was no mis-interpretation or taint of political views. The kids at LV need to learn how to read, write and communicate properly to prepare them for their future and leave the politics/religion for parents. To be frank- it seems that most conservatives will debate their ideas between adults and not use impressionable kids as the catalyst to try and reprogram or sway the adults. IE liberal: There was a push in Cali. by the lesbian/gay/trans. etc. to get their life styles more main stream. So they protested to their local schools to teach a book called And Tango Makes Three(two gay peguins raise a baby). Many used the excuse that K students were using homophobic slurs and it was out of control. Kids at that age can barely remember what they ate for lunch or learned that day but some how they could use such dialogue and understand the deep meaning of these caustic words. They continued pushing the issue saying their kids were being bullied and tolerance needed to be taught and learned. The book(Tango) says noting about tolerance, all it illustrates is a alternative life style that will be taught and their will be a new generation (school taught) that this is alright. This should be left in the hands of the parents to discuss and not pushed onto these kids(by the school) and at such a young age(kinder-5). Where are the books being read that it's okay to studder, wear glass, be short, be fat, be to skinny, have buck teeth ect. ect. It seems that most liberals will use any alternative routes to try and implement their ideals and that includes kids. If O was just going to stick to a script of stay in school most people wouldn't have a problem but looking at all the people and politics he is now surrounding himself with, there are some extreme left leaning agents that don't care what kind of language, retoric or audience is listening. The schools need to teach the kids the three R's and leave the rest to the parents. P.S. I would want a consevative President pushing his views on my kids either.

Texas has the one of the worst drop-out rates of any school system. When anyone in Government wants to encourage children to do their part in overcoming this drop-rate record, that person should be applauded and helped to deliver the message, not hinder the effort.
To say the intent is political is really stretching the truth. The critics should use their energy on some action that helps to fight the drop-out rate. Maybe they don't care or maybe they are the ones with a political agenda.

You know that no matter what naysayers could postulate about whether we are respecting the prez or not, parents and the schools should have the final decision in regards to this matter. If we pay taxes, we should have a voice as the constitution guarantees that for all people...even those who don't pay taxes.
Mr. Obama has a lot of good intentions...some are pipe dreams and unrealistic. If he can't accept that the people have spoken on this and other matters, maybe his pie in the sky schemes are just that and should be abandoned.
The election that put Mr. Obama in office was a mandate to change one president for another...and as Mr. Obama has seen in the last several months...his election margin did not guarantee a shooin of all his pet projects. I believe that Mr. Obama's heart is in the right place but I see an idealism that is not realistic...when your plans will cause untold hardships...or negate family rights...maybe the train that left on the uphoria of his election has been derailed by his own lack of really being able to read what the American people want.

Really, it is the President of the United States. He deserves some respect. Come on we let our children watch a NASA shuttle blow up in space, the not guilty verdict of OJ Simpson, the destruction of 911 but we do not allow them to watch the President tell them to serve their country by giving back and stay in school and do their best and think of the possibilities they can do--coming from the President of the Free World. HAHA that is not a free world. I think it is just a whole bunch of people putting their views on the students. STUDENTS IF YOU WANT TO WATCH IT --- DEMAND THAT YOU WATCH IT, THAT IS YOUR PARENTS TAX MONEY BEING PUMPED INTO THE SCHOOL. Just read the article of FISDs recent budget in WCN. Tells you exactly what is going where.

As of Friday morning Sept 4, ECISD's Central Office has given each principal of each school the decision, not the individual teachers.
