1928-2009

Dorothy “Dee Daw” B. McInvale, a lifelong resident of Floresville, Texas, passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, at 4:40 a.m. in the Floresville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Floresville, at the age of 81 years, 4 months, and 21 days.

Dorothy was born May 14, 1928, in Floresville, the daughter of George W. and Maude Stokes McInvale. She graduated from Stockdale High School, class of 1946, and retired as a bookkeeper. Dee Daw loved Church’s chicken, strawberry shakes, and J C’s Super Burger. Dee Daw especially loved her poodle, Fremont. She was a lifelong member of Marcelina Baptist Church in Wilson County.

Dorothy was survived by her brother, Elbert McInvale, who passed away Oct. 6. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great-nieces and -nephews, and cousins; her brother-in-law, Wade Smith; and her sister-in-law, Gean McInvale.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her niece, Anna Beth McInvale; her nephew, James Ruks; her great-nephew, Kenneth W. Parker; her brothers, Oxford McInvale, Bert McInvale, and Dewitt McInvale; and her sisters, Ruby Lee Garland, Patty Jo Parker, and Veronia Ann Smith.

Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel, officiated by the Rev. Olen Wilson.

Interment followed in the Marcelina Cemetery in Wilson County. Serving as pallbearers were Charlie Wayne McInvale, Jeff Moss, Kenneth Ruks, James Ruks, Larry Smith, and Jerald Garland.
