AUSTIN -- Here is the fishing report as compiled for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (full report is available at www.tpwd.state.tx.us)

Freshwater

BRAUNIG Water stained; 81 degrees. Black bass are slow on crankbaits and dark soft plastic worms. Striped bass are fair on liver and shad near the pier and at Dead Tree Point, and on marble spinnerbaits near the jetty and dam. Redfish are fair on perch, shad, and silver spoons, and down rigging spoons near the jetty and dam. Channel catfish are excellent on liver, shrimp, cut bait, and cheesebait near the dam and the discharge. Blue catfish are good on cut bait.

BUCHANAN Water clear; 81 degrees; 29.84' low. Black bass are fair on root beer JDC Drop Shot Worms on drop shot rigs, silver flake Whacky Sticks on jigheads, and white/chartreuse/purple back crankbaits in 8 - 20 feet early (and all day under cloud cover). Striped bass are fair casting and jigging Spoiler Shads and drifting or free lining live bait from Striper Island to the dam in 28 - 42 feet at daylight. White bass are fair on Tiny Traps and 2" plastic swim baits along the river channel and deep creeks in 25 feet. Crappie are fair on pink/white and chartreuse Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows in clear water. Channel catfish are fair to good on live bait upriver. Yellow and blue catfish are good on live bait upriver.

CALAVERAS Water stained; 81 degrees. Black bass are fair on dark soft plastic worms, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits around reed beds, near the dam, and in Granny's Cove. Striped bass are slow. Redfish are good down rigging spoons with green grubs between the crappie wall and the dam in 15 - 20 feet, and on perch and tilapia along the shoreline. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are excellent on liver, shrimp, cheesebait, and shad near the railroad trestle, 181 Cove, and the discharge. Yellow catfish are slow.

CANYON LAKE Water clear; 80 degrees; 14.69' low. Black bass are fair on Smokin' Greenin. Devil's Tongues on drop shot rigs, watermelon red Whacky Sticks on wacky rigs, and Texas rigged 6in. pumpkin Scoundrel worms and white spinnerbaits along main lake bluffs in 12 - 20 feet and in standing timber in 4 - 8 feet. Striped bass are fair to good but small jigging blade baits and trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits over and around humps in the lower end of the lake. White bass are slow. Smallmouth bass are fair on smoke JDC grubs and 3/16oz. pumpkin Curb's jigs with matching JDC drop shot worms in 12 - 28 feet early. Crappie are fair on minnows and crappie jigs upriver. Channel catfish are slow. Yellow and blue catfish are fair on trotlines baited with live bait.

CHOKE CANYON Water clear; 82 degrees; 9.01' low. Black bass are good on large soft plastic worms and lizards. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow but some large crappie have been caught on minnows. Drum are good on live worms. Channel and blue catfish are good on punchbait in 5 - 15 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.

COLETO CREEK Water stained; 81 degrees (90 degrees at discharge); 2.70' low. Black bass are fair on soft plastics and spinnerbaits in 3 - 8 feet. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are slow. Yellow catfish are slow.

COLORADO RIVER Water fairly clear. Black bass are fair on minnows. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows. Catfish are fair on live perch.

FALCON Water clear; 80 degrees. Black bass are good on crankbaits, buzzbaits, and topwaters. Striped bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are excellent on cut bait and shrimp. Everyone in the boat must have a Mexico fishing license (if fishing the Mexico side) whether fishing or not.

GRANGER Water stained; 78 degrees; 0.72' low. Black bass are fair on white spinnerbaits. White bass are fair on slab spoons. Crappie are good on chartreuse/orange jigs tipped with Berkley Crappie Nibbles in 4 - 15 feet. Blue catfish are good on fresh shad and prepared baits in newly flooded vegetation. Yellow catfish are fair on live perch and goldfish.

LBJ Water stained; 81 degrees; 0.17' low. Black bass are fair on JDC Skip-N-Pops and 1/8oz. Curb's buzzbaits tight to seawalls in 4 - 8 feet at daylight and just before dark, and on wacky rigged green pumpkin Whacky Sticks and 4in. green pumpkin tubes under boat docks. Striped bass are good on Creme Lures 2" Spoiler Shads and Li'l Fishies at night. White bass are fair to good on Li'l Fishies at night. Crappie are fair to good on Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows over brush piles in clear water. Channel catfish are good on minnows and dip bait. Yellow and blue catfish are fair to good on trotlines.

TRAVIS Water stained; 81 degrees; 50.54' low. Black bass are very good on chrome chuggers, watermelon red soft plastic worms, and smoke grubs in 5 - 25 feet. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows and blue and white tube jigs in 15 - 22 feet. Channel and blue catfish are excellent on nightcrawlers and fresh cut bait in 25 - 38 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.

WALTER E. LONG Water clear; 81 degrees. Black bass are slow. Hybrid striper to 8 pounds are good on live bait. White bass to 2 pounds are good on crankbaits and spinnerbaits. Crappie are good on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on stinkbait and shrimp. Yellow catfish are slow.
Saltwater
BAFFIN BAY Trout are fair to good in mud and grass on Corkies and topwaters. Redfish are good in the Land Cut on natural baits.

BOLIVAR Trout are fair to good on the south shoreline on soft plastics and plugs. Black drum and redfish are good at Rollover Pass.

CORPUS CHRISTI Redfish are fair to good around Shamrock Cove on small topwaters and spoons. Redfish are good in the Humble Channel on crabs and table shrimp.

FREEPORT Sand trout and sheepshead are good on live shrimp on the reefs. Bull redfish are good in Cold Pass and San Luis pass on cracked blue crabs.

EAST GALVESTON BAY Trout are fair to good on the south shoreline on topwaters and soft plastics. Whiting and sand trout are good on the edge of the Intracoastal on fresh shrimp. Gulf trout have been caught in the channel on shrimp.

WEST GALVESTON BAY Waders have taken trout in the mud and shell on topwaters and Corkies. Sheepshead, redfish and black drum are good at the jetty on shrimp and crabs.

EAST MATAGORDA Trout are fair for drifters on live shrimp over humps and scattered shell. Redfish are fair to good on the edge of the Intracoastal on crabs and mullet.

MATAGORDA Redfish are fair to good in Oyster Lake on shrimp. Trout are fair on shell and grass on soft plastics. Flounder are fair to good on soft plastics over muddy bottoms.

PORT ARANSAS Bull redfish are good in the Shrimpboat Channel and at the jetty on crabs and finger mullet. Redfish are fair to good on the East Flats on topwaters and Gulps.

PORT ISABEL Snook are fair in the Brownsville Ship Channel on free-lined shrimp and on the flats on topwaters. Trout and redfish are fair to good in South Bay on live shrimp.

PORT MANSFIELD Trout are fair to good on topwaters around sand and grass holes. Redfish are fair to good while drifting pot holes and sight-casting to the shallows. Bull redfish are good at East Cut.

PORT O’CONNOR Trout and redfish are fair on topwaters over soft mud in waist-deep water in San Antonio Bay. Trout and redfish are fair for drifters working the back lakes with live shrimp and topwaters.

ROCKPORT Bull redfish are good in the Lydia Ann Channel on crabs. Trout are fair over grass while drifting with live shrimp. Redfish are fair to good on the Estes Flats on mullet and shrimp.

NORTH SABINE Trout are fair to good under the birds when the wind allows on soft plastics and good in the river on live shad. Redfish are good in the marsh on small topwaters and Stanley Ribbits.

SOUTH SABINE Bull redfish are good at the jetty on crabs. Sheepshead and black drum are good at the jetty on live shrimp. Trout are fair around the Reef on live shrimp.

SOUTH PADRE Trout and redfish are fair to good on the edge of the Intracoastal on DOA Shrimp and Gulps. Tarpon and redfish have been caught at the jetty on live shad.

TRINITY BAY Trout are good for drifters working pods of shad and mullet on Bass Assassins, Trout Killers and Sand Eels. Redfish are good at the spillway on crabs and mullet. Blue catfish are good in the marsh on shrimp.
