Most of the area’s taxing entities have adopted their budgets and tax rates for the 2010 fiscal year, which will result in an increased property tax bill for many area taxpayers.

The Wilson County Commissioners Court adopted a budget of $12,830,772.50, which will be supported by a tax rate of $0.4325 per $100 of assessed property value. Below is a summary of the budget and tax rate information for other taxing entities located within the Wilson County News’ coverage area.

To determine the amount of tax a homeowner will pay to a specific entity, divide the taxable value of a home by 100 and multiply it by the rate. For instance, the owner of a home in the Stockdale city limits with a taxable value of $120,000 would pay the city $387.84.

For city and school taxes, see tables.

ESDs
•Bexar County Emergency Services District (ESD) No. 12 -- which includes the St. Hedwig area -- adopted a budget of $153,096, which will be supported by a property tax rate of $0.090161 per $100 of assessed property value.

•Wilson County ESD No. 1 -- which includes the La Vernia area -- adopted a $455,613.02 budget, which will be supported by a property tax rate of $0.085 per $100 of assessed property value.

Hospital
The Wilson Memorial Hospital District adopted a gross operating budget of $55,683,192, a capital budget of $150,000, and a cash flow budget of $23,700,094. Debt service and indigent care expenses will be supported by a property tax rate of $0.16 per $100 of assessed property value.

Road districts
Each year, Wilson County Commissioners Court adopts property tax rates for the county’s road districts. These districts were established to allow for the paving of certain roads, which were paid with loans. The tax rates are based on the amount of money needed to make the annual payment on the loan, and may vary from year to year.

•Blackjack Road District -- $0.64 per $100 of assessed property value.

•Country Acres Road District -- $0.1766 per $100 of assessed property value.

•HELROBQ Road District, which includes Hidden Deer, Enchanted Oak Drive, Lost Spring, Rolling Hills Drive, Oak Grove, Bent Bow Trail, and Quail Run Drive, all located near C.R. 319 west of La Vernia -- $0.1623 per $100 of assessed property value.

•Kothmann Road District -- $0.0612 per $100 of assessed property value.

•Oak Hills Development Road District -- $0.1430 per $100 of assessed property value.

•Presidents Park Road District -- $0.1259 per $100 of assessed property value.

•Wood Valley Acres Road District -- $0.1831 per $100 of assessed property value.
