1934-2009

Bernice (Grams) Howes, 75, of Adkins, Texas, passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009.

She was born Oct. 14, 1934, in St. Hedwig.

She was preceded in death by her son, Glenn Howes.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin Howes; her children, Janet “Gail” McQueen and husband John, Stephen Howes and wife Dana, Karen Moczygemba and husband Ira, Brian Howes and wife Cindy, and Jonathan Howes and wife Diane; and her grandchildren, Eric McQueen and wife Chesney, Stephanie Krueger and husband Gavin, Julie Mae Bain, Matthew Moczygemba, Morgan Howes, Blaine Moczygemba, and Lauren Howes.

Bernice is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Sutton Krueger and Landry McQueen; a sister, Margaret Thompson; her sisters-in-law, Margie Grams, Valerie Grams, Clara Grams, Regina Grams, and Iris Howes; her brothers-in-law, Eddie Kuczynski and Johnny Howes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation took place Sunday, Nov. 1, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass was held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in St. Hedwig with Father Bill Zadora officiating.

Interment followed in the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the East Central School Foundation Inc., 6634 New Sulphur Springs Road, San Antonio, TX 78263.
