Sunday's Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway came down to a duel between brothers, with Kyle and Kurt Busch running first and second most of the afternoon.

Both brothers were on a mission of sorts. Kyle was trying to become the first NASCAR driver to ever win three national series races at the same track on the same weekend after winning Friday night's WinStar 350 Camping World Truck Series event and the Nationwide Series' O'Reilly Challenge on Saturday.

Older brother Kurt, meanwhile, is in the Chase for the Sprint Cup and was trying to claw his way back toward the top.

This duel between brothers turned into a fuel mileage run late, with Kyle falling a few laps short. Kurt, on the other hand, had made his final pit stop two laps later than Kyle during the final pit cycle and was able to conserve enough fuel to make it the full distance.

The win was Kurt's second of the season and his first at Texas Motor Speedway.

"It's bittersweet," Kurt said of his win dashing brother Kyle's shot at three Texas wins over the weekend.

After making a late pit stop for fuel, Kyle finished 11th.

Kurt climbed two positions to fourth in the points standings, but he's still 171 points out with only two races to go.

Fellow Chaser Denny Hamlin was able to take advantage of several cars running out of fuel to post a runner-up finish. The fourth-place finish allowed Hamlin to move from 11th to eighth in the points standings.

Points leader Jimmie Johnson had trouble early, as early as lap three as a matter of fact, when David Reutimann got into Sam Hornish, sending Hornish into Johnson.

Johnson's No. 48 crew spent more than an hour in the garage making repairs in an effort to get Johnson back out on the track to gain positions as others fell out of the race. The points leader was able to salvage a 38th-place finish.

Meanwhile, Mark Martin, second in points, finished fourth to cut his deficit on Johnson from 184 points at the beginning of the race to 73 points with just two races remaining.

"It's still a respectable lead," Johnson said of being 73 markers ahead going into the final two races of the year.

Matt Kenseth, who is outside of the Chase for the first year since its inception, finished third.

Kevin Harvick rounded out the top-five.
