Bear Sighting in La Vernia

Floyd was running faster than what should be humanly possible when he turned the corner at route 87. With the bear just a few feet behind and closing fast, Floyd's heart was pounding in his chest with each gasp of breath. Floyd knew each breath might be his last. As he was running across Bluebonnet Street, he looked back. The bear's cold steely blue claws were ripping gouges in the asphalt street as the bear ran behind Floyd by just a few feet.

The bear raised its head and let out a growl that raised the hair on Floyd's neck. Tears were streaking from out of Floyd's eyes. He couldn't outrun the bear, but he had to try.

The pupils of the bear's black eyes captured an image of Floyd tripping and falling to his knees. He closed his eyes and began to pray. The bear would surely rip him to shreds.

But the bear passed by Floyd with the school building in its sight. The bear leaped over the Police cruisers attempting to block the bear's way.

From the force of the bear's massive weight, the school doors burst open and the bear slid across the floor. Then, after a mighty roar, the bear became motionless, engulfed in the haze of a blinding blue light. The massive claws ripped through the air as the bear began spinning in place. The lights began flashing, first blue then white. Faster and faster the bear did spin, spinning so fast in the blue and white lights that the view of the bear became blurred. Then all stopped and where the bear once stood was a blue and white mist.

And so it is told that when the school doors opened the next morning, the students filed in, and the blue and white mist was still there filling the students with the spirit of the Bear. "Go La Vernia Bears Go".
