Those who are anti-Semitic, such as Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, choose to deny the Holocaust ever occurred. This is an outrage to the intelligence and sensibility of any reasonable human being. Up until just recently, the Japanese government likewise chose to engage in denial with respect to the Rape of Nanking, in which tens of thousands of Chinese women were raped and thousands murdered. Likewise there was denial of the tens of thousands of Korean and Filipino women forced into brothels to “serve” Japanese soldiers.

To deny documented, monumental crimes against humanity is an insult to humanity itself. Even when not responsible for the crime, denying it occurred is an act of brutality.

American ideals. We will come back to denial shortly, but for the moment we need to discuss what constitutes being American. America was founded on the ideals that; “All Men are Created Equal”; “Equal Justice under the Law”; “Separation of Church and State”; and the “Rule of Law”. If you do not believe in those ideals, then you need not read any further.

American Foreign Policy. As we discuss in, The (induced) Ignorance of Power, whenever we have gotten into trouble as a nation, it is because some government official believed American interests were more important than American values. A good example was our support of Sadaam Hussein. Our “intelligence” officials knew he was a thug, murder and rapist, but he was friendly to the US, so we sent him economic and military aid. Likewise we supported other dictators such as Somoza of Nicaragua, Marcos of the Philippines, and the Shah of Iran. As they brutalized their people our government felt it was in our best interests to look the other way. The result was “blowback” in the form of anti-Americanism.
Today’s Denial. As you read this, a crime against humanity is occurring. If you will go to BBC.com or WorldFocus.org (a PBS website), you will see Palestinian families sitting on the curb, after being run out of their homes at gunpoint by Israeli police armed with US weapons. Evicted not because they couldn’t pay the rent or mortgage, but because they are not Jewish.

You will also see their homes being demolished, to make way for Jewish homes. What you will witness is raw, naked conquest and ethnic cleansing. What you will witness violates everything sacred to American ideals.
Misplaced loyalty. Unquestioning support of Israel has been promoted as a partisan issue. It is not. Fundamental American values are not to be compromised by any political party. America is not about violation of international law or running children out into the street because of their race, color or creed.

The Outrage of Denial. By any measure, this is state supported criminal activity, yet many Americans choose to deny it is occurring. Yes, Israel is an ally, but just as our soldiers should be held accountable if they engage in war crimes, so also must our allies.

Chicken or the Egg. As a warped rationalization for denial, some Americans deem that because Palestinians engage in reprehensible acts of terrorism as retribution for seizing their land . . . Israel is justified in provoking the terrorism? This makes no sense.

Our Responsibility is to be even-handed in this conflict. Every President since Richard Nixon has condemned the seizing of Palestinian homes, but none have had the political courage to do anything about it. Barack Obama, like all other presidents admonished Israel to stop seizing land in the West Bank. The demolishing of homes in East Jerusalem is a direct act of defiance. Whether you are Republican, Democrat or Independent you must send an E-mail to Whitehouse.gov and demand that aid to Israel be withheld if they do not stop this activity. Genuine partisan issues are how much we tax and how much we spend on welfare. But when our tax dollars are spent on military hardware to violate human rights, that is an American issue.

Bottom line. Those who are anti-Semitic chose to deny the Holocaust occurred. Those who are pro-Israel chose to deny the illegal and immoral seizure of Palestinian homes, land and farms.
