Ester Silva Cordova
Ester Silva Cordova, a resident of Floresville, Texas, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at 5:45 p.m. in the Metropolitan Methodist Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 75 years, 4 months, and 18 days.
Ester was born August 10, 1935, in Floresville, to Ysidra Botello and Santos Silva Sr. She attended school and was a homemaker. Ester married Rudolfo A. Cordova Jr. in 1955 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville. Rudolfo, Ester’s beloved husband of more than 54 years, preceded her in death on July 11, 2009. Ester enjoyed cooking, hanging out with her sisters, and gambling in the Kickapoo Casino in Eagle Pass. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Ester had a kind heart and kept her door open for everyone.
Ester was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Sylvia Camarillo; her son-in-law, Jimmy Camarillo; and her brother, Antonio Silva.
Ester is survived by her children, Sam Cordova and wife Mary, Jimmy Cordova, and David Cordova and wife Karen; her brothers, Santos Silva Jr., Juan Silva, Jesse Silva, Tommy Silva and wife Oralia, Ruben Silva and wife Gracie, and Daniel Silva and wife Corrine; her sisters, Consuelo Hernandez and husband Rudy, Esperanza Trevino and husband Salvador Trevino Jr., and Jovita Silva; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Baby.
A visitation was held on Sunday, Jan. 2, at 5 p.m., and a rosary was recited at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.
A funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday at 11:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville with Father Phillip Henning officiating.
Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Floresville.
Serving as pallbearers were Jimmy Cordova, Anthony Cordova, Stevie Cordova, Rene Silva, Ruben Silva, and Tommy Silva.
