Offer condolences

Arturo D. Gonzales, a lifelong resident of Floresville, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at 8:50 p.m. in the Regency Manor nursing home in Floresville at the age of 76 years, 4 months, and 11 days.

Arturo was born Aug. 17, 1934, in Floresville to Conrado and Rafaela DeLeon Gonzales. After graduation from high school, Arturo was a service manager with Hoelscher’s Furniture for more than 50 years. He enjoyed watching sports and playing baseball.

Arturo was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Diane Gonzales; and his sister, Amelia “Molly” Bench.

He is survived by his wife, Genevieve Gonzales; his longtime companion, Betty Trevino; his children, Arthur Gonzales Jr. and wife Blanca, Mary Elizabeth DeLeon and husband Valentin DeLeon Jr., Martha Estrada, Joseph Gonzales, and Lucio Trevino and wife Lora; his brother, Alex Gonzales and wife Dorothy; his sisters, Angela Gonzales, Anna Gonzales, Alice De La Pena, Adela Espinosa and husband Rudy, and Aurora “Susie” Trevino and husband Joe Michael; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation was held on Friday, Dec. 31, at 5 p.m., and a rosary was recited at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville. A funeral Mass was celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville with Father Phillip Henning officiating.

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Art Gonzales, Valentin DeLeon Jr., Lucio Trevino, John Hoelscher, John Gonzales, and Joe Michael Trevino.
