Franklin James ‘Pancho’ Kruse
Franklin James “Pancho” Kruse of Adkins, Texas, entered the gates of heaven Christmas Day, 2010. Pancho was born Aug. 5, 1948, to Clarence and Mary Louise Kneupper Kruse in San Antonio.
A master plumber all of his adult life, Pancho was a valued employee of Mason Plumbing, Ashley Plumbing, and John Albert Plumbing, and finally became self-employed, owning Frank’s Plumbing Co. His work was important to him, but his heart belonged to his hunting and fishing. He always took his Labrador, Sugar, with him everywhere, including his plumbing jobs and his hunting trips. Sugar also entered the gates of heaven with Pancho on Christmas Day.
Pancho made many friends along the way and was known throughout the community for his love of life and his work. Pancho really enjoyed spending time with all his hunting buddies he made throughout the years. One of his friends couldn’t hunt any longer, so Pancho brought his buddy, Al Pancoast, a deer every year.
Pancho married the love of his life, Tina Sims, on May 6, 1972, and together they raised their family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother Freddy; his brother, David; and his sisters, Diane and Frances Kruse.
Pancho is survived by his wife, Tina; daughters Tammy Flanagan and husband Tom and Brenda Kruse and Danny Casey; son James Kruse and Tiffany Kotara; and longtime family friend Sandra Knopp, who was just like a daughter to Pancho. Other survivors include his mother-in-law, Marie Angermiller; grandchildren Alexandrea and Dillon Kruse and Danny and Dalton Flanagan; brothers Ronnie Kruse, Johnny Kruse and wife Virginia, and Robert Kruse and wife Gail; sisters Debbie Hartley and husband John, Elizabeth Crawford, Patti Kruse, Cindy Dischinger and husband Dwayne, and Lori Loretta Lyn Perkins; and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Pancho’s favorite saying was “Life goes on. It stops for nobody. Nobody gets out of this world alive.”
A celebration of Pancho’s life took place Thursday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m. in the Meadowlawn Tribute Center in San Antonio, with Brother Joe Stansell officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the San Antonio Humane Society, 4804 Fredericksburg Road, San Antonio, TX 78229.
