Offer condolences

Lillian Marie Zaiontz Rahe, a resident of Falls City, Texas, entered eternal rest on Christmas Eve, Thursday, Dec. 24, 2010, at 11:08 p.m. in the Regency Manor nursing home in Floresville at the age of 92 years and 4 days.

Lillian was born Dec. 20, 1918, in Yoakum, the daughter of Frank J. and Theodosia Gabrysch Zaiontz. She graduated from Falls City High School and volunteered in the rectory at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in San Antonio for many years. She married Alfred “Bob” Rahe on Nov. 13, 1939, in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City. Lillian enjoyed music, fishing, hunting, and photography. She always had a bountiful vegetable garden and found pleasure in raising her chickens.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Alfred Joseph Rahe; her sisters, Lorene Bludau and Annie Korzekwa; and her brothers, Raymond Zaiontz and Chester Zaiontz.

Lillian is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Alfred “Bob” Rahe; her daughter, Susan Sikes and husband Darral; and her grandchildren, Arlene Rahe, Mary Rahe Holland, Karen Rakowitz Gulick, Rocky Rakowitz, and Elaine Sikes. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Curtis Jackson, Samantha Eckols, Justin Rahe, Holly Holland, and Luke, Cole, and Cade Gulick; her great-great-grandson, Samuel Eckols; her brothers, Chris Zaiontz, Tommy Joe Zaiontz, and Bobby Zaiontz; and her sisters, Ruth Frances Ibrom, Patsy Payne, and Rose Imelda Korzekwa.

Visitation was held Monday, Dec. 27, at 5 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Poth. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City, with Father Gregory Sawicki officiating.

Interment followed in the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Falls City.

Serving as pallbearers were Marc Gulick, Darral Sikes, Howard Holland, Cruz Ruiz, Robert Eckols, and Justin Rahe.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. P.J.’s Children’s Home, 919 Mission Road, San Antonio, TX 78210.
