FALLS CITY -- The Falls City Junior High School boys and girls basketball teams earned wins over Pawnee and Runge this past week, improving their season records and standing in the district.

The Beaverette basketball teams took a pair of wins as the seventh-graders defeated Pawnee 37-12, and the eighth-grade team beat Runge 37-9.

In the seventh-grade game, Alexis Sekula led the Beaverettes’ scoring effort with 9 points, followed by Kaelan Cheatham and Hannah Lyssy with 8 points each. Amber Pawelek scored 6 points for Falls City, and Madison Brysch and Abby Lubbock each scored 2 points.

Haleigh Blocker led the way for the eighth-grade team with 14 points against Runge, while Grace Dziuk dropped in 10 points for a good scoring effort of her own. Tessa Jendrusch and Chloe Wilson each scored 4 points in the contest, while Alexus Lyssy, Madison Olinick, Jennifer Pruski, and Courtney Witte each scored another 2 points.

In boys competition, the junior high “B” team downed Pawnee by the score of 30-17, while the “A” team knocked off Runge 52-14.

Pacing the “B” team was Kaleb Hons with 10 points on the night, followed by Kyle Bronder with 8 points and Mitch Lyssy with 6. Chase Ramsey scored 3 points for the Beavers, Nichols Vogel scored 2 points, and Jacob Pruski scored 1 point.

Several Beavers scored in double digits during the “A” team game with Runge. Cody Houdmann led the way with 12 points for Falls City, followed by Gabe Jimerson with 11 points and Zach Jimerson with 10. Conner Dziuk and William Stolle each scored 6 points, Kolton Pollok and Conner Jendrusch each scored 3 points in the game, and Ryan Pawelek was good for another 2 points.
