Offer condolences

Pauline “Dotsy” Mergele Doege, 90, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011. She was born on Nov. 13, 1920.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Lovis Doege in 1999; her parents, Rudolph and Martha (Markgraf) Mergele; her daughter, Joyce, in 1961; her brothers, Oscar, Otto, Willie, Hugo, Harry, and Herbert; and her sister, Anita Rohlf.

Dotsy is survived by her daughters, Elaine Schnitz and husband Harley of La Vernia and Mildred Mihalski and husband Albert of Adkins; her grandchildren, Kristine Fretwell and husband Chuck of Pleasanton, Dianell Recker and husband Brent of La Vernia, Sherry Schneider and husband Craig of Seguin, and Shannon Coleman and husband Ronnie of La Vernia; and her great-grandchildren, Braden and Logan Recker of La Vernia, Cash and Kadi Fretwell of Pleasanton, Brylee and Bryson Coleman of La Vernia, and Blake Schneider of Seguin. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Elizabeth Doege, Alice Lubianski, and Adeline Skryzcki and husband Stanley; and her brother-in-law, Herman Doege and wife Betty.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, Jan. 12, from 4-9 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A Mass will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in St. Hedwig, with Father John Flanagan officiating.

Interment will follow in the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Cemetery in St. Hedwig.

Memorial donations may be made by way of Mass cards. The family sends special thanks to Father Bill Zadora and Eucharistic ministers from St. Ann’s Catholic Church in La Vernia and Country Care Manor for all of their great care over the last seven years.
