Vera Lohse Schneider, a longtime resident of Floresville, Texas, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at 7:34 p.m. in her residence in Floresville at the age of 90 years, 2 months, and 25 days.

Vera was born Oct. 11, 1920, in Floresville, the daughter of Ed and Olga Ziegler Lohse. She was a homemaker who enjoyed raising her chickens, gardening, sewing, quilting, and cooking. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Floresville.

Vera married Hugo Alex Schneider on Feb. 26, 1939, in Floresville. Hugo, Vera’s beloved husband of more than 49 years, preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 1989.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hugo Alex Schneider; her daughter, Evelyn Mills; her sister, Norma Schneider; and her brothers, Ed Lohse, James Lohse, and Melvin Lohse.

Vera is survived by her children, Ethel Mae Gressett and husband Kenneth, Judy Patton and husband Bernie, Larry Wayne Schneider and wife Janet Mattern, and Jane Keller and husband Danny; her sister, Lola Schneider; and her son-in-law, Roger Mills. Vera is also survived by her grandchildren, Richard Peters, Bryan Mills, Candice Humphries, Hubert Mills, Chad Patton, Kristal Morris, Vanessa Schneider De Granja, Jan Eric Schneider, Nicole Schneider, Darryl Keller, Pam Keller, Cindy Stidwell, and William Keller; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Saturday, Jan. 8, at 1 p.m. in the First Lutheran Church in Floresville.

A funeral service was held Saturday at 3 p.m. in the church with Pastor Randy Conley officiating.

Interment followed in the Floresville City Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Bryan Mills, Richard Peters, Chad Patton, Jan Eric Schneider, Darryl Keller, William Keller, Richard Humphries, and Hubert Mills.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Lutheran Church Building Fund, 1406 Sixth St., Floresville, TX 78114.
