FLORESVILLE -- The Texas Rangers are investigating an officer-involved shooting incident on Clear Spring Drive off C.R. 320 north of here Jan. 15.

Two deputies from the Wilson County Sheriff's Office were peppered with shotgun pellets as they exited their vehicles, said Sheriff Joe D. Tackitt Jr. They were called there after 2 a.m. for a report that a man identified as Robert Cole had been firing weapons outside his home.

Deputies returned fire, striking Cole at least once. A Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) SWAT team found him lying on the floor inside the home, Tackitt said. Cole was transported to the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. There is no word on his condition.

The deputies, identified as Jeff Rosier and Toby Garcia refused transport to a hospital, Tackitt said. They were among several deputies who were assisted by officers from the Floresville Police Department and DPS Troopers.

It"s so nice to see of all the news agencies that have covered this story that Mr. Gibbs was the only one to report the incident correctly. Keep up the excellent reporting Will!
