“I’m sure it comes as no surprise that drama works to promote your child’s imagination as no other activity out there,” said Drama Kids International owner/operator Sandy Detamore. “But did you know that imagination is one of life’s essential ingredients, not only as a child, but for years to come?”

This is based on research from Marilynn McLachlan, author of The New Parent Code: 12 Vital Clues to Achieving Modern Family Sanity.

Take for example, a teenager who has just been “dumped” by her boyfriend. Among the tears and heartache, imagination -- if it has been allowed to develop -- begins to take hold. The “mind’s eye” starts working, and the teen can begin to see other possibilities: a new boyfriend, or how staying single could actually be a good thing. It starts as a seed and grows until what was imagined becomes reality.

Imagination gives life excitement and keeps things interesting. Even our top scientists need imagination. In order to find a cure for cancer, the scientist must first be able to imagine a cure. And a budding young writer needs lots of imagination to capture the big picture.

Parents, give your child the gift of imagination by enrolling them in Drama Kids. The spring presentation semester starts Wednesday, Jan. 19, at schools in the Floresville and Poth school districts. Class size is limited. To enroll or for more information, visit .
