The Floresville North Elementary Student Council consists of third-, fourth-, and fifth-graders who are elected by their peers. The Student Council participates in many community-service-based projects and fund-raisers to raise money for items the school may need, such as a marquee sign, outdoor benches, and canopy coverings for the playground.
Upcoming Valentine events for the Student Council include a dance for fourth- and fifth-graders, to which the students will take donated items or valentines for local nursing homes; and a Valentine card sale.
Another project is an Office Depot recycling program, which includes the recycling of all ink toner cartridges and electronic devices, such as cell phones and MP3 players. Anyone can donate items, and community members can help out by dropping off items at the main office during school hours. For every $25 of recycled items turned in to Office Depot, the business will give the school a $25 gift card, which will then be donated to the district’s social worker to buy school supplies for needy students.
Student Council sponsors are Tricia Jarzombek, Janna Michalak, Heather Sawers, Daidra Chilek, and Terry Garza.
