Emma Trevino Vasquez, 77, of Karnes City, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, in San Antonio. She was born on Aug. 28, 1933, to Felix and Maria Molina Trevino in Hobson. She married Joe Sanchez Vasquez in 1956. She was a homemaker and a cook, and a member of the St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sons, Felix Vasquez and Ralph Vasquez; her sisters, Julia Trevino and Nicolasa Alaniz; and a grandchild, Felix Vasquez Jr.

She is survived by her son, Lionel Vasquez of Karnes City; her daughter, Christina Martinez and husband Joe Villarreal of Edinburg; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A rosary was recited on Sunday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m. in the Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City.

A Mass was recited on Monday at 10 a.m. in the St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City with Father Stanislaw Marciniak officiating.

Interment followed the Mass in the Karnes City Cemetery.
