Allen E. Kosub, 80, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011. He was born on July 18, 1930, in La Vernia and was raised there.

Allen served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and in the U.S. Air National Guard after his tour of duty in Korea. Allen retired from NAPA Auto Parts after 45 years of service as an outside sales representative. He was a member of the American Legion Post 539, Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 837, Brahan Masonic Lodge No. 226, Hermann Sons, the Martinez Social Club, the Scottish Rite, and the Alzafar Shrine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Minnie (Schroeder) Kosub.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lillian (Witte) Kosub; his daughter, Cynthia Corbin and Phillip of San Antonio; his grandson, Lucas Corbin of Flower Mound; his granddaughter, Chelsey Corbin of San Antonio; his sisters-in-law, Dora Wyatt and Eddie, Elsie Ferry, Laura Baumann and Marvin, Clydell Witte, and Rita Witte; his brother-in-law, Elton “Sonny” Witte; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 19, from 4-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in La Vernia with Dr. Robert Palan officiating.

Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in La Vernia.

Donations may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Sunday School, P.O. Box 168, La Vernia, TX 78121.
