Emil C. Baumann, a longtime resident of Floresville, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at 6:28 p.m. in the Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville at the age of 87 years, 6 months, and 23 days.

Emil was born June 17, 1923, in Dewees to Otto and Ottilie Lohse Baumann. He attended the Darilek School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in Japan and the Philippines.

Emil also worked for many years caring for the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he helped the priest with different jobs. He worked on the grounds helping to care for the pecan trees, and planted the tree by the parish hall.
