Dunn also placed second in mathematics. Kenya Barrientos took third place in social studies. Fourth place in current events went to Isidore Jarzombek. Amy Orth placed fourth in accounting. Freshman Brandon Daar took fourth in his grade level for science. Policy debaters Emily Archer and Emily Flieller narrowly missed the quarterfinals by three speaker points, coming away with two wins and a loss to Karnes City.
“We are very proud of how well our students are doing so early in the season,” said UIL Academic Coordinator Lisa Theuret. “Being thrown into an almost completely new district was disconcerting at first, but we are preparing to meet the challenge.”
