The Wilson County Girl Scouts hosted a “Winter Sock Hop” on Jan. 17 in the parish hall of the Floresville United Methodist Church.

The 23 girls, ranging in age from 6 to 14, and 10 adult leaders made scarves from fleece donated by each troop. They also collected donations of hats, mittens, and socks to donate to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, along with the fleece scarves.

In addition to the service project, the girls enjoyed decorating socks, dancing, enjoying sweet snacks brought by each troop, and getting to know other Girl Scout sisters.

The Wilson County Girl Scouts are comprised of troops from Stockdale, Poth, La Vernia, and Floresville. The Girl Scout mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.

Girl Scouts is open to girls between the ages of 5 and 17.
