Bird dog trainer to give seminar in March

McCOY -- Dog trainer Ronnie Smith is slated to teach a Foundation Seminar at the Schuble Ranch in McCoy Friday through Sunday, March 4-6, focusing on his basic training techniques. Any dog owner can use these techniques to cultivate a better relationship with their bird dog, and to reshape that relationship for long-term success. While Smith conducts seminars annually across the country, this is the first time he has done so in South Texas.

The Foundation Seminars teach the first stage in training a bird dog and are the hub of Smith’s training format. During these seminars, Smith will first demonstrate the lessons, and then everyone will have the opportunity to take their dog through the lessons themselves. Smith will go over introducing dogs to birds, checkcording dogs in to live pigeons, developing points of contact for handling, and the “whoa” command, teaching dogs to heel on a lead, and more.
