Hilmer ‘Bud’ Huebner
Hilmer “Bud” Huebner, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, in the Pepin Manor nursing home in Wisconsin. He was born Feb. 20, 1928, in Converse, Texas, to Willie and Martha Barthold Huebner.
In 1938, the family moved to the Black Hill community, where he went to school and worked on the family farm and also worked for neighbors. Bud served in the U.S. Army from 1950-52 in the military police at the Brooke Medical Center in San Antonio, where he met his wife, Mildred E. Schneider. They were married on Sept. 1, 1951. They moved back to Alma, Wis., Mildred’s hometown in 1954. Bud worked as a machinist at Warner and Swasey in Winona, Wis., for 27 years. He also drove milk trucks and tended bar at the Lucky 7 in Alma.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Leonie Kempin, Hulda Karnei, Irma Grobe, and Alfred Huebner.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred of Alma; and his children, Tom Huebner of Alma, Kathleen Olson of Woodbury, Minn., Candyce Huebner and Michael Johnson of Marshfield, Wis., Tim Huebner of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Mary Rivers of Eagan, Minn. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kimberly Huebner Hall of Clarksville, Tenn., Nicolas Huebner of Alma, Tiffany Gallagher and Matthew Jensen of Robbinsdale, Minn., Annie Jensen of Onalaska, Wis., Michelle Rivers of Bend, Ore., and Rachel Rivers of Winona; and his great-grandchildren, Garret Hall, Paige Hall, Eleanor Gallagher, and Isaac Gallagher. He is also mourned by his siblings, Henry Huebner of Seguin, Alton “Sonny” Huebner and wife Yvonne of Harper, Olga “Baby” McGlothing and husband Bill of San Antonio, and Lillian Bauer of Black Hill.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Pepin Manor for their compassionate care.
