FLORESVILLE -- The Floresville High School Jaguar softball team will host the first HITS for HOPE fund-raiser Friday, Feb. 11, beginning at 6 p.m. at Jaguar Field.

The event, which the Jaguars hope will become an annual occurrence, will serve as a fund-raiser to benefit local families throughout the school year. Along with help from the Floresville Independent School District Social Work Department, money raised will assist those in need with the cost of school clothes, school supplies, Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, as well as Christmas presents and other needs throughout the year.

Jaguar softball players will be seeking donations and pledges throughout the week, and will then compete in a batting contest of sorts. Players will have the opportunity to hit 10 softballs from the pitching machine, and their distances will be recorded. There will also be a meet-and-greet with players and coaches during the event.

For more information, see any Jaguar softball player or coach, call Coach Billy Marshall at 830-743-6839, or e-mail bmarshall@fisd.us.
