WIMBERLEY -- The Floresville Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade Jaguar basketball teams traveled to Wimberley Jan. 8 to compete in a tournament. The seventh-grade Jaguar teams defeated everyone they faced, and took home two championships, one in each division.

“The girls were very excited to be able to travel to the beautiful town of Wimberley, but most of all, they wanted to be able to show their talent on the basketball court,” said Coach Jesse Henley.

In seventh-grade competition, the Jaguars beat Smithville in the first round, then went on to defeat Navarro in the second round -- earning themselves a spot in the championship game. The Jaguars played solid defense, coupled with exciting offensive play, to defeat the Wimberley Texans in the championship game. The girls earned first-place medals and wore them with pride.

The Most Valuable Player for the seventh-grade A Team was Kristyn Coldewey, and the Most Valuable Player for the seventh-grade B Team was Kaytlyn Mann.

“Their aggressive play helped solidify the victory for the Jaguars in both championship games,” Henley said.

Parents and fans were there to cheer on their favorite players and enjoy the games. The Jaguars have had a great season thus far, and had a great time at the Wimberley Tournament.

“The Jaguars look forward to finishing off the season strong,” Henley added.
