Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Cecilia Wagner Hosek, a lifelong resident of Poth, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at 7:20 p.m. in San Antonio at the age of 90 years, 11 months, and 27 days.

Cecilia was born Feb. 6, 1920, in Floresville to John J. and Cecelia Jiral Wagner. Cecilia married Edwin Hosek on Oct. 28, 1941, in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth. Edwin, Cecilia’s beloved husband of more than 42 years, preceded her in death on July 28, 1984.

Cecilia was a member of the Altar Society and the K.J.Z.T., and volunteered at the food pantry for more than 20 years. Cecilia was a lifelong member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sisters, Lillie Hosek, Agnes Stavinoha, and Sister Gemma and Sister Catherine Wagner; and her son-in-law, Vincent Jarzombek.

She is survived by her daughters, Cecelia Jarzombek of Poth and Mary Louise Friesenhahn and husband Norvin of San Antonio; her sons, Frank Hosek and wife Chris of Floresville, Jimmie Hosek and wife Vickie of San Antonio, and Patrick Hosek and wife Carolyn of Poth; her sister, Georgia Laskowski of Karnes City; her brother, Monsignor John A. Wagner of San Antonio; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation was held on Friday, Feb. 4, at 5 p.m., and a rosary was recited at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Poth.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth with Monsignor John A. Wagner and Father Grzegorz Szewczyk, S.D.S., officiating.

Interment followed in the Blessed Sacrament Cemetery in Poth.

Serving as pallbearers were David Friesenhahn, Daryl Friesenhahn, Darren Friesenhahn, Dustin Friesenhahn, Dwayne Hosek, Randy Hosek, Raymond Jarzombek, and Larry Jarzombek.
