Steven C. Purcell, 45, passed away on Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, in the Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas after a very sudden illness.

Steven was born to Gary and Janet (Myhre) Purcell on June 22, 1965, in Moorhead, Minn. He grew up in North Dakota and attended school in Gwinner and attended college at the North Dakota State School of Science for Diesel Mechanics. He followed with nearly four years in the U.S. Marine Corps as a heavy vehicle operator and mechanic, spending his tour in Okinawa, Japan, and Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. He earned the Navy Achievement Medal and the Expert Rifle Marksmanship Badge while on active duty. He was employed at Auto Zone in San Antonio as a parts manager until his death.

Steven was a hardworking, honest man with a huge heart and was loved by everyone who met him. He loved children, motorcycles, cars, guns, knives, fishing, and building things. Steven was the most loyal son, brother, and friend anyone could ever have, and he will be dearly missed, said family members.

Steven was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his mother, Janet Purcell; his sisters, Lori Flannery of Wahpeton, N.D., and Karen Jacobs of Melbourne, Fla.; and his brothers, Larry and Brad of Casselton, N.D., and Dean of Sutherland Springs.
