Velma Lea West, 81, of Stockdale, Texas, passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, in Stockdale. She was born Dec. 27, 1929, to Vernon Lee and Mary Estelle (Bird) Bracewell in Stockdale.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Velma Lea is survived by her husband, Martin Winston West of Floresville; her sons, Steve Winston West of Baytown and Lee Martin West of San Antonio; her daughter, Joy Marie Moore and husband Randy of Fairfield; her grandchildren, Wesley Moore of Denton and Wendy Moore of Cartersville, Ga.; her brother, Vernon Lee Bracewell Jr. and wife Dottie of Hamilton; her sister, Frances Marie Sanders and husband Ralph of Lake Jackson; and other loving family.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Feb. 2, from 5-7 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Stockdale.

A funeral service was held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

A private interment will follow at a later time in the Steele Branch Cemetery in Wilson County.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 8610 N. New Braunfels, Ste. 400, San Antonio, TX 78217.
