ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Remembering Peter Gonzales

Peter E. Gonzales Jr. passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 26. He will be remembered as a man who always thought of others before himself.

Every year before Thanksgiving, Peter would collect donations for meals that he would cook and distribute to those in need. He had a large following of friends who helped with this endeavor. This would have been his 13th year providing meals to families, his family said.

“As sick as he was this past Thanksgiving, he still got the turkeys finished,” said Wanda Gonzales, his widow.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m. in The Turning Point Church in Floresville.

For her husband’s good works, Wanda is sure he has earned the Lord’s response, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”


Peter E. Gonzales

Peter E. Gonzales of Floresville, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011. He was born on Jan. 6, 1952, in San Antonio.

He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Banks Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Sims Gonzales; his daughters, Kimberly Mattes and husband Edward, Stephanie Ximenez and husband Arturo, and Desiree Banks; his son, Joaquin Gonzales; his parents, Peter E. Gonzales Sr. and Carmen Gonzales; his sister, Sylvia Vega and husband Arturo; his brother, Mark Gonzales and wife Sandra; his niece, Meghan Gonzales; his nephew, David Vega; and 22 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m. in The Turning Point Church in Floresville.
