Five county offices of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service -- Caldwell, Gonzales, Comal, Guadalupe, and Wilson counties -- will host a feral hog management workshop on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at the Luling Foundation located at 523 S. Mulberry St. in Luling. The workshop will be held in cooperation with the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board.

Registration is set for 8 a.m. with five Texas Department of Agriculture pesticide applicator continuing education units being offered -- two General, two Integrated Pest Management, and one Laws and Regulations. Registration is free and includes lunch, refreshments, and handout materials.

Topics include: basic biology of feral swine, feral hogs in the Plum Creek Watershed, population dynamics, update on feral hog research, laws and regulations for hunting feral hogs, agricultural regulations regarding feral hogs, feral hog safety, and transportation and holding facility regulations.

Preregister with the Caldwell County Extension Office by Friday, Feb. 18, to ensure an accurate count for the meal and handouts. This event is free of charge through a Clean Water Act Section 319(h) nonpoint source grant from the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
